Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has reinforced his administration’s commitment to improving higher education by donating 400 computers to the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), a move aimed at enhancing experiential learning, digital literacy, and technology-driven education. Speaking during the presentation, the governor said the initiative forms part of the state’s broader strategy to equip students with practical skills needed to compete in today’s knowledge-based and technology-driven economy. He stressed that modern education must go beyond classroom instruction by providing students with hands-on experience, access to digital tools, and opportunities to develop problem-solving and innovation skills. According to Mbah, investment in education remains one of the most effective ways to promote sustainable development, economic growth, and youth empowerment. He noted that the computers will improve teaching, research, innovation, and academic collaboration while enabling students to gain greater exposure to information technology and digital resources. University management welcomed the donation, describing it as a significant contribution that will strengthen learning, improve access to educational materials, and enhance the institution’s technological infrastructure. Academic experts observed that digital facilities have become increasingly important in higher education, particularly in science, engineering, technology, and research-based disciplines. They added that improved access to computers supports practical training, online learning, data analysis, software development, and collaborative research. Stakeholders also commended the Enugu State Government for prioritising investment in education, noting that sustained funding for infrastructure, technology, staff development, and innovation will improve the quality of graduates and strengthen the state’s human capital.
