Renowned Nigerian gay rights activist Bisi Alimi has sparked a massive public uproar by calling for the immediate arrest and investigation of a current Big Brother Naija housemate over an alleged confession involving a dangerous “kito” setup.
The term “kito” refers to a notorious predatory practice in Nigeria where individuals use dating apps or social media to lure gay or bisexual men to secluded locations, where they are subsequently robbed, assaulted, blackmailed, or outed.
According to Alimi, the reality TV star allegedly boasted on live television about participating in or orchestrating such a scheme prior to entering the reality show. Lashing out on social media, the UK-based activist argued that the confession goes beyond social controversy, constituting a severe violation of human rights and a direct incitement to violence and armed robbery.
“This is not just about homophobia; this is a direct admission to a violent, premeditated criminal act. Luring people under false pretenses to be beaten, robbed, and blackmailed is a felony. Law enforcement and the show organizers must act immediately,” Alimi stated.
