Argentine icon Lionel Messi has reached a preliminary agreement in principle to acquire 100 percent of the shares of Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense, marking a major expansion of his post-playing business empire.
The deal, first reported by Spanish media and subsequently confirmed by the club, will see the Inter Miami star take sole control of the Alicante-based outfit from the current owners, Colombian investment group TH Soluciones. While the acquisition is a massive coup for the historic club founded in 1921, the transaction remains subject to final financial due diligence and formal approval from Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD).
This move represents Messi’s first venture into professional club ownership in Spain, adding to a growing portfolio that already includes fifth-tier Catalan side UE Cornellà, which he acquired earlier. For Eldense—who recently returned to the Segunda División—the prospective takeover by one of football’s greatest names promises a new chapter of growth and global visibility as they target stability in Spain’s professional ranks.
