Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has sparked a massive public uproar after candidly admitting that he was once paid to fake a physical disability during a staged church miracle service.
Speaking during an interview with Feel Right News TV, the celebrated movie star revealed that the controversial incident occurred years ago when he was still struggling as a student, long before he achieved fame and recognition in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
According to Solade, he was approached and recruited to play the role of a person with a physical impairment, pretending to be crippled so that the officiating ministers could “heal” him publicly. Admitting to his youthful participation purely for financial gain, the actor humorously noted how he spent the proceeds:
“I have been used for a miracle then, when I was not popular. I acted as a cripple, they paid, I used the money to drink, then I was a student.”
While the explosive revelation has reignited intense national debates across social media regarding the authenticity of miracles and commercialized religion in Nigeria, Solade stopped short of naming the specific church or the clerics involved. Maintaining that the organizers are still alive today, he chose to shield their identities while pulling back the curtain on deceptive pulpit practices.
