Top political figures and traditional rulers in Kwara State have flooded the family of veteran journalist and LEADERSHIP regional editor, Alhaji Abdullahi Hanafi Olesin, with heartfelt condolences following the passing of his mother, Alhaja Munirat Hanafi Imam Olesin.
Alhaja Munirat passed away at the age of 87 and has since been laid to rest according to Islamic rites, with her Janazah prayer led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir Dasuki Fulani.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented at the burial rites by his Senior Adviser and Counsellor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, described the death as a painful loss. He commended the legacy of the late matriarch and extended his sympathies to the family, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ).
Similarly, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, eulogized the deceased as a virtuous and responsible woman whose life reflected deep devotion to Islam, family values, and community development.
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, also joined the chorus of tributes. Speaking through his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, the monarch noted that mothers occupy an irreplaceable place in society, describing her departure as a significant loss not only to the immediate Imam Olesin family but to humanity at large.
As prayers pour in from across the state’s media and political landscapes, leaders have urged the grieving family to find comfort in the impactful and exemplary life lived by the late matriarch.
