Outspoken political activist Aisha Yesufu has fired a stern warning ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that supporters of Peter Obi have “zero trust” in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and will take total control of protecting their ballots.
Speaking during a high-profile media interview reflecting on the bitter lessons learned from the 2023 polls, Yesufu stated unequivocally that the ‘Obidient’ movement and their political allies will not leave the collation and security of their votes entirely in the hands of state institutions. According to her, the camp is implementing an uncompromising grassroots security framework designed to track every single ballot paper and result sheet from the polling booths all the way to the final declaration center in Abuja.
“We are not going to give them any chance to assume that they’re going to do the right thing. No result sheet will leave our sight. We will follow the results from the polling units all the way to Abuja,” Yesufu stated.
She emphasized that building rigorous structures around every polling unit—utilizing active physical monitoring rather than relying solely on campaign rallies or digital assumptions—is the ultimate antidote to electoral manipulation. Slamming the credibility of electoral and security systems, Yesufu maintained that citizens must treat the defense of their votes as an existential civic duty to prevent a repeat of past disappointments.
As political realignments intensify toward 2027, the declaration sets the stage for a hyper-vigilant opposition camp determined to challenge INEC’s operational integrity at every phase of the upcoming electoral cycle.
