Even when you are a global Afrobeats megastar, you still have to answer to your big sister! Sharon Adeleke-Ademefun, the elder sister and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Davido’s record label, has revealed that she sits down with the hitmaker for weekly finance meetings to keep a tight rein on his spending habits.
Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, Sharon opened up about her role managing the financial side of her brother’s empire. She disclosed that her biggest challenge in the boardroom isn’t corporate strategy—it’s getting the “Unavailable” crooner to stop buying multi-million-naira luxury cars and custom jewelry!
“Me and David sit and have a finance meeting every week because I think it is important for him to know how his money is being spent. I will now say, ‘David, please, no more cars,'” Sharon shared. However, she hilariously admitted that her warnings don’t always stop him. “24 hours later, you know how they normally say it, ‘2 to 3 business days’, I’ll just see on the blogs: ‘This latest car'”.
Sharon noted that as his older sister, she has the unique privilege of telling Davido the blunt truth that other team members might be too afraid to say. While their working relationship involves frequent sibling bickering, she emphasized that putting professional structure behind his talent has helped safeguard his long-term financial future.
