“Subsidy Was A Scam!” — Donald Duke Targets ₦300 Petrol Price If Elected President

Former Cross River State Governor and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) presidential candidate, Donald Duke, has sent ripples through the political landscape by pledging to crash fuel prices to approximately ₦300 per litre if elected president in 2027.

Speaking during a live television interview, the smooth-talking politician argued that affordable energy remains the core catalyst required to unlock national productivity and ease living costs for millions of struggling citizens. Labeling previous subsidy regimes as riddled with opacity, Duke asserted that boosting local refining capacity and eliminating systemic inefficiencies would naturally drive pump prices down without crippling state finances.

“The function of government is to ensure the productivity of citizens within a safe and orderly environment,” Duke stated. “Fuel drives your economy; it should be available, and it should be affordable”.

Addressing opposition dynamics ahead of 2027, the PRP flagbearer cautioned rival political movements against focusing solely on unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) without a clear developmental roadmap. He stressed that political coalitions must unite around a shared vision for national transformation rather than mere power grabs.

His audacious petrol pledge has ignited intense debates across social media, with citizens weighing his economic vision against realistic market conditions ahead of the 2027 polls.

Do you think a ₦300 petrol price is realistic in Nigeria today, or is it just election campaign talk? Drop your thoughts in the comment section below!
