President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu have arrived in Abuja for the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections. The high-profile ceremony marks another major step in the ruling party’s preparations for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, bringing together prominent political figures, governors, party leaders and other key stakeholders.
The President arrived at the State House Conference Centre on Wednesday, October 14, accompanied by the First Lady, Vice President Kashim Shettima and his wife, Nana Shettima. They were received by senior government officials and political leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The inauguration is expected to formally set the campaign council in motion, with members tasked with coordinating political mobilisation, campaign messaging, media engagement and outreach to voters across the country. Tinubu will chair the council, while former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari serves as Director-General and Governor Hope Uzodimma as secretary.
The development comes as the APC intensifies its preparations for the 2027 presidential election. The party has scheduled its campaign flag-off for October 24 in Kaduna, with further engagements planned for Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State.
With the campaign council now taking shape, attention will turn to how the APC plans to mobilise supporters and present its record to Nigerians ahead of the polls. The coming weeks are expected to bring more political activity as parties position themselves for what promises to be a closely watched election season.
