The heated feud between Nollywood actress Doris Ogala and popular clergyman Pastor Chris Okafor has taken a dramatic legal turn after a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos ordered that the actress be remanded in Ikoyi Prison!
Ogala was officially arraigned by the police on a three-count charge bordering on cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and an alleged attempt to extort the sum of ₦30 million from the founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries.
According to the charge sheet presented before Justice Akintayo Aluko, the actress allegedly published private photos, video clips, and offensive statements across various social media platforms with the intention of causing annoyance, insult, and injury to the reputation of the cleric.
Appearing in court, Ogala pleaded not guilty to all three counts brought against her by the prosecution team.
While her defense counsel made an oral application for bail, arguing that the charges were bailable offenses, the trial judge directed the defense to file a formal written bail application for proper consideration, ordering that the actress remain in prison custody at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the determination of the bail hearing.
The news of Ogala’s remand has generated shockwaves across the Nigerian entertainment and religious space, triggering fiery debates on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and X over online feuds and the legal limits of cyberbullying laws in Nigeria.
