Future Eagles Edge Rwanda on Penalties to Advance at U-15 World Cup

Nigeria’s Future Eagles have kept their FIFA U-15 World Cup campaign alive after defeating Rwanda 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

The dramatic result earned the Nigerian youngsters a place in the classification semi-finals, where they are scheduled to face Chile in their next match in Baku, Azerbaijan.

It was another test of character for the young team, who had to rely on a penalty shootout to get past a determined Rwandan side.

The Future Eagles had earlier delivered an impressive performance with a 7-0 victory over New Caledonia, with captain Timothy Ijach scoring a hat-trick. They also suffered a defeat to Benin Republic, making their latest result an important response.

Although the team is competing in the lower classification bracket rather than challenging for the main title, every match offers valuable international experience for Nigeria’s emerging football talents.

The next assignment against Chile will provide another opportunity for the youngsters to demonstrate their quality and finish the tournament on a positive note.
