Edo Queens Petition CAF After Painful Defeat to Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa

Edo Queens are refusing to let their controversial defeat to Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies pass without a fight, as the Nigerian club has formally petitioned the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over the outcome of their WAFU Zone B qualifying final.

Ampem Darkoa secured a 1-0 victory after extra time in the second leg, finishing with a 3-2 aggregate win and claiming qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League. However, Edo Queens have challenged the outcome, asking CAF to review the match and cancel the result.

The development has added another layer of tension to a contest that was already attracting attention from Nigerian and Ghanaian football supporters.

For Edo Queens, the matter is about more than losing a place in the continental competition. The club wants the governing body to examine the circumstances surrounding the final and address its concerns.

Whether CAF will grant the club’s request remains to be seen, but the petition has ensured that the WAFU-B final will remain a major talking point in African women’s football.
