Nollywood has another romantic drama to look forward to as filmmaker and television host Philomina Moses Lawson launches her debut feature film, Before You Wake, alongside her new production company, Phylmo Productions Ltd.
The movie premieres today, October 30, on YouTube through Philomina Moses TV. It marks an important milestone for Lawson, who has spent years working across different areas of the Nigerian entertainment industry before stepping forward with her own production outfit.
Before You Wake tells the story of Tunde, a man who sacrifices almost everything to care for the woman he loves. But when Amara wakes up to a different future shaped by her wealthy parents, Tunde discovers that the life he gave up for her may have moved on without him.
The film features Kanaga Emmanuel Eme, popularly known as Kanaga Jnr, Sophia Chisom, also known as Soso, Peter Inyang, Omobola Akinde, Uche Leona and other actors.
Lawson serves as executive producer, while Peter Inyang directs the film. The production is expected to explore love, sacrifice, difficult choices and the painful reality that loving someone does not always guarantee a happy ending.
The launch also introduces Phylmo Productions, a company established to develop original stories across film, television, documentaries and digital entertainment.
For Lawson, this is more than another movie premiere. It is the beginning of a new chapter as a filmmaker building her own creative brand.
