2027 Elections: ADC Questions Credibility of Voter Register After AI Photo Revelation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns about the credibility of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections following recent revelations surrounding irregularities in the preliminary voters’ register.

The party has criticised aspects of INEC’s preparations, arguing that the commission must provide stronger assurances about the accuracy and reliability of the electoral database.

The controversy intensified after INEC acknowledged that irregular records, including AI-generated photographs, had appeared in the preliminary register.

Opposition figures have called for greater transparency, independent scrutiny and proper investigation of the officials involved.

The ADC’s concerns reflect a wider debate about public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process. With more than 103 million registered voters, even seemingly small errors can generate serious questions about the accuracy of the database.

INEC, however, says it is correcting the identified problems and remains committed to conducting credible elections.

The commission has also promised to complete the necessary corrections before the final register is certified in December.

As political parties prepare for the 2027 contest, the pressure on INEC will continue to grow. Nigerians will expect more than assurances; they will want transparent procedures, reliable technology and evidence that their votes will count.
