Nathaniel Bassey Makes African Gospel History With One Billion YouTube Views

Nigerian gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first African gospel artiste to surpass one billion views on YouTube.

Figures from his official YouTube channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, showed that it had accumulated more than 1.014 billion views and 5.24 million subscribers as of November 2, 2026.

The achievement is particularly significant because the channel has been active since 2011, reflecting more than a decade of consistent music releases, worship sessions and inspirational content.

Interestingly, the milestone arrived during the October edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, the popular online prayer and worship programme founded by Bassey in 2017.

What started as an online worship gathering has grown into a global movement, attracting participants from different countries who join the sessions for praise, prayer and spiritual encouragement.

Beyond the impressive numbers, Bassey’s achievement highlights the growing international reach of African gospel music and the influence of digital platforms in spreading worship content.

For his supporters, this is more than a YouTube record. It is a moment of celebration for Nigerian gospel music and a reminder that faith-based content can reach audiences across the world.
