Osimhen Injury Update: Super Eagles Star Faces Three Weeks Out After Surgery

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to spend approximately three weeks on the sidelines after undergoing successful knee surgery, giving Nigerian football fans another injury update to follow closely.

Galatasaray confirmed that the operation was carried out on Saturday at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by the club’s doctor, Yener İnce.

The 27-year-old sustained a left knee injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart. Subsequent medical examinations revealed a free fragment in the knee joint, making surgery necessary.

The Turkish club said Osimhen’s condition would be monitored through daily assessments as he continues his recovery.

The injury is a major setback for Nigeria because the striker will miss the Super Eagles’ upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Tanzania.

Osimhen has been in excellent form this season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in eight Turkish league appearances before the injury.

His absence also means Nigeria must find another attacking option at a time when the national team needs consistency in front of goal.

Reports suggest that the striker could return for Galatasaray’s November 24 encounter against Aston Villa if his rehabilitation progresses as expected. However, his actual return will depend on his medical recovery.

For now, Nigerian supporters will be hoping the surgery resolves the problem and allows one of the country’s most important football stars to return stronger.
