Expecting a swift response to Alfie May’s goals was natural and more so for a team like Manchester City. Still, Cheltenham held on for so long, the world of football was already bracing up for the shocker when the Citizens roared back into the game with nine minutes left to play.
Quickfire goals for Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, and Ferran Torres all but turned what would have been a bleak fortune around for Manchester City.

Cheltenham might have missed out on the chance of making such a great history. Still, they can take solace in just how much of a formidable opponent they were for Manchester City because pushing and pulling Pep Guardiola’s team isn’t always an easy feat, especially for a lower division team.
