Italian champions Juventus bade farewell to their Champions League run in the round of 16, no thanks to a late goal from Porto’s Sergio Oliveira in Tuesday’s thriller.
The Old Lady headed into the second leg of the clash with a two-goal deficit they incurred from the first leg last month’s 2-1 defeat and fell behind 19 minutes when Oliveira’s converted from the spot.
After the break, Juventus’ Federico Chiesa found the far corner from a tight angle in the 49th minute.
Soon after, Taremi was shown a second yellow card for kicking the ball away, then Chiesa headed in a Juan Cuadrado cross after 63 minutes to level the tie on aggregate.
It looked like Juve would talk full advantage of their opponent’s one-man disadvantage, but Oliveira’s free-kick deep into the second half of extra time brought Porto back into the game.
Adrien Rabiot’s did find the back of the two minutes after Oliveira’s goal, but that was not enough as Juventus suffered a second straight knocked out on away goals at this stage of the competition.
Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Sevilla (5-4 on aggregate)
In the other game of the night, Erling Braut Haaland scored his 19th, and 20th goals in 14 Champions League appearances as Borussia Dortmund drew 2-2 with Sevilla to progress to the quarter-finals 5-4 on aggregate.
Dortmund has reached the last eight of the Champions League for the first time since the 2016-17 season and will find out their opponents when the draw is made on 19 March.
