The stage is officially being set for a massive gathering of African football royalty in Nigeria! A 15-man delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has concluded a comprehensive facility inspection tour across Abuja and Lagos ahead of the upcoming 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and 2026 CAF Awards.
Led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Dr. Christian Emeruwa, the inspection team arrived to thoroughly evaluate primary venues, accommodation, transit networks, and security protocols. In Abuja, officials conducted detailed assessments of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to ensure full compliance with international standards.
During courtesy visits with top leadership at the National Sports Commission (NSC), including Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director-General Honourable Bukola Olopade, Nigerian authorities reaffirmed total commitment toward hosting flawless events. NSC leadership emphasized that joint coordination between the Federal Government, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and CAF will showcase Nigeria’s premier organizational capability to the entire continent.
With Abuja set to host the General Assembly in November and Lagos hosting the high-profile CAF Awards ceremony in December, Nigerian football enthusiasts and sports analysts are buzzing with pride over the country’s central role on the continental stage.
