Airport Incident: “No Special Treatment, KWAM 1 Must Be Prosecuted” — DJ Switch

Nigerian disc jockey and social justice activist DJ Switch has joined the growing chorus calling for Fuji legend KWAM 1 to face justice in the wake of the controversial airport ordeal.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) took decisive action after the August 5 incident at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. NCAA petitioned both the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to launch a full criminal investigation into KWAM 1’s conduct, which included blocking a ValueJet aircraft and allegedly pouring substance on crew members. The sport of that petition underscores that no individual is above the law criminal acts at airports jeopardize safety and require accountability

On her social media platform, DJ Switch echoed that sentiment, stressing there should be “no special treatment” for the veteran musician. According to reports, she criticized the growing tendency to excuse misconduct by public figures, especially when the law demands equal treatment for everyone.

She wrote on her Instagram story: “The thuggish behavior by Kwam 1 at the airport is so incredibly despicable! But, as we’ve always known, the two tiered system in Nigeria serves only to punish and silence the elite accountable he holding the poor while never for anything! Because in a saner country, he should be facing charges! I had some words for Abike Dabiri but she’s not worth it!”

Her stand aligns with pressure from other respected aviation bodies. The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) called KWAM 1’s behavior “crude” and “unruly,” urging authorities to ensure he faces full consequences. The group even lobbied for the reinstatement of the suspended pilots, arguing the singer’s conduct was primarily responsible for the aviation disruption.
