Akon’s Wife Seeks to End 29-Year Marriage, Demands $100 Million Settlement

Tomeka Thiam, the estranged wife of Senegalese-American singer and entrepreneur Akon, has reportedly filed for divorce after nearly 29 years of marriage. In her court filings, Tomeka is demanding $100 million as part of the divorce settlement, claiming she played a significant role in building Akon’s business empire.

According to her, she made major contributions—financially and otherwise—to the growth of Akon’s businesses, which include his music career, real estate investments, and the Akon Lighting Africa Initiative, a project aimed at providing electricity to rural communities across Africa.

However, the divorce case took a dramatic turn during legal investigations. Court officials were said to be surprised when financial disclosures allegedly revealed that Akon had only $10,000 in his personal bank account. Reports claim that the bulk of his estimated $60 million fortune is being held in his mother’s bank account, raising questions about potential attempts to shield assets from the settlement.

Neither Akon nor his legal team has publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report.
