As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has assured citizens that Abuja remains one of the safest and most peaceful cities in the country.
Wike attributed the capital’s stability to the joint efforts of government agencies and the commitment of residents to peaceful coexistence. While acknowledging security challenges in other regions, he emphasized that the FCT continues to stand out as a model of unity and security.
“Residents have been deliberate about living together in peace and harmony despite a few distractions. As a result, the FCT has become one of the most peaceful places to live in Nigeria,” he said.
The Minister praised residents for their vigilance and cooperation, urging them to remain proactive by reporting suspicious activities and supporting ongoing initiatives to maintain law and order.
Highlighting Abuja’s security record as a sign of progress, Wike said it demonstrates what is possible when government and citizens work hand in hand. “As we celebrate 65 years of nationhood, let us look ahead with renewed hope. The FCT will continue to stand as a symbol of our unity, resilience, and one of the safest places to call home in Nigeria,” he affirmed
