Atiku Challenges Tinubu Over Saudi Arabia Trip, Demands Daily Photo Updates

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stirred another political conversation after reportedly demanding daily photographs and video updates of President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing Umrah trip to Saudi Arabia.

Tinubu departed Abuja for Makkah on Thursday, with the Presidency saying the visit was intended to allow the president to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and progress.

However, Atiku wants regular visual updates from the trip, a demand that has attracted attention as political tensions continue to rise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development has quickly become another talking point between the ruling party and the opposition, with Nigerians discussing the president’s overseas trip and the opposition’s scrutiny of his activities.

Atiku’s demand comes at a time when the political atmosphere is becoming increasingly competitive, with major opposition figures preparing to challenge Tinubu’s bid for another term.

Whether the Presidency responds directly to the demand remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: even a presidential religious visit has become part of the wider political conversation ahead of 2027.
