The Rush crooner is making her acting debut in the much-anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone. The movie features a star-studded cast, including big names like Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Cynthia Erivo.

In a recent interview with CBS Mornings, Ayra opened up about the transition from music to acting and how different it feels.

“My first movie ever. I’m used to being a singer and being a diva on set, but with this one in a movie it’s not about you. You have to be on set on time,” she said.

Ayra shared how being on set with seasoned actors was humbling and inspiring. She confessed to having been shy about acting in the past, but this new chapter is one she fully embraces.

The Mavin Records signeejoins a Hollywood all-star cast that includes Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and more. During the interview, she explained that being in front of the camera has taken on a new meaning for her, making her a bit shy, as it’s not what she’s normally used to.

I got used to military time and being on set on time, working hard. I respect actors so much more now, their stamina is impeccable.

It’s something I have always wanted to do; sorry to cut you short. I love music, but I always loved the arts in general, but I had always been shy when it comes to acting. This is the first time in my life I’ve been on camera, but I’m not singing; I’m acting.

Working with greats is amazing; I learnt so much from everybody on set, not just the greats, just the actors on set. I learn from the 16-year-olds, 14-year-olds on set; it’s inspiring just watching themThe Mavin star also expressed admiration for actors’ stamina and dedication, revealing how the experience gave her a deeper respect for the craft.

As Ayra Starr continues to shine globally, this new role is yet another proof that she’s not slowing down any time soon. From dominating charts to now joining Hollywood’s elite, Ayra is clearly just getting started.
