Roberto Martinez’s side, who finished third in the last World Cup Russia four years ago and are ranked second in the world, had a rather disappointing tournament with just one win and one goal in their three matches.

They needed a win against Croatia to secure qualification, but failed to get the needed victory, as Romelu Lukaku missed lots of chances to help his country qualify.

Meanwhile, Morocco held on to a 2-1 win over Canada, to finish top of the group and quality for the last 16 of the tournament for the first time since 1986, alongside second place Croatia.
