Following a wave of intense backlash, actress and podcaster Biola Adebayo has issued a public apology for her recent YouTube interview with actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha. The controversy exploded after the interview aired on her show, Talk To B, where the actor—who was released from prison in late 2025 following his conviction for sexual assault—used the platform to maintain his innocence and claim he was “set up.”
In a video statement shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, March 24, a visibly emotional Adebayo addressed the public outrage. She explained that her intention in providing the platform was to allow the actor an opportunity to offer a genuine apology or clarify his position, not to endorse his claims or minimize the seriousness of his crimes. She revealed that he did not use the opportunity to apologize as she had hoped, and she has since taken down the video.
Adebayo, who personally identified herself as a survivor of sexual assault, firmly pushed back against accusations that she was attempting to exonerate a convicted offender or enable abuse. She maintained that her role as an interviewer is to facilitate dialogue between “saints and sinners,” but emphasized that she would never condone pedophilia or rape. She apologized for the distress the interview caused her audience and reiterated her commitment to supporting victims, stating clearly that she would never be an accomplice to the trauma inflicted by such crimes.
