2023: PDP Launches Campaign in Akwa Ibom

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched its presidential campaign in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the general elections in 2023.

Just four months before the February 25 presidential election, the event is being held at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo, the state capital.

Akitu Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate and former vice president, as well as Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, and Udom Emmanuel, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, are among the dignitaries present at the South-South State.

Others include Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed and his Adamawa counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri, former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye among other top party officials.

Atiku tweeted some photographs on his Twitter account, showing that he arrived in Uyo last night. Okowa, Emmanuel, and Mohammed were with the former vice president, who expressed his happiness at being in Akwa Ibom State.

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and his friends, including Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State, and Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, were not present.

After Wike lost to Atiku in the PDP presidential primaries, the crisis shook the PDP in a new way.

Numerous attempts to appease the Wike camp appear to have failed because the enraged governor has avoided party events and declared that he will not support Atiku’s bid for the presidency.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s calendar and schedule of events, the general election campaigns for 2023 officially began on September 28. (INEC).
