 2023 Presidency: I Won’t Step Down-Fayose

The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said he will not step down from his 2023 presidential ambition.

He stated this during his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, some hours after he obtained the presidential form.

Fayose noted that if the consensus mode of election is considered, democracy will be hindered, and eligible candidates will be rubbed the opportunity to contest.

“They said they want all of us to come and do consensus. I don’t know about them, but I have taken a form today, and I will not step down.

“Do you know the mind of Nigerians? Do you know who they want? I will go to that election, and I won’t step down. Any meeting or anywhere they talk about consensus, as good as that language looks, it is undemocratic,” he said.

Fayose had on Wednesday stormed the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja to purchase the N40 million Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

He becomes the 14th aspirant on the Party’s platform seeking the number one position, and the first aspirant from the southwest

Meanwhile, the party had fixed May 28 and 29, 2022, for its Presidential primary. It had also extended the deadline for the sale of nomination forms from April 1 to April 8, 2022
