Claudio Ranieri is now Watford new head coach

Watford has confirmed the appointment of former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri as their new head coach.

The 69-year-old returns to the Premier League for the first time since his spell with Fulham in 2018.

Since then, the Italian has had stints in charge of Roma and Sampdoria in Serie A.

He has signed a two-year deal at Vicarage Road.

Ranieri also spent one and a half seasons in Ligue 1 with Nantes after leaving Leicester following the remarkable accomplishment of leading the Foxes to the league title.

The Hornets sacked former manager Xisco Muñoz on Sunday following the 1-0 defeat to Leeds over the weekend which left the club in 15th place in the Premier League.
