A not so happy Valentine’s day for Manchester United

A win for Manchester United could not have only made Valentine’s for the fans and everyone at the club, it could have sent Ole Gunnar’s back above Leicester in second place, but instead of win, the Red Devil’s were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by struggling West Brom.

While the result might come off as better than a defeat, it means Ole’s men are now seven points behind league leaders and city rivals, Manchester City, who have a game in hand and that’s not something United fans are excited about!

The Baggies took a shock lead after just 83 seconds as on-loan striker Mbaye Diagne outdid Victor Lindelof to head in from Conor Gallagher’s cross.

United kept struggling to get back into the game until Fernandes jumped in on Luke Shaw’s cross to send a surprise into the top corner to level things up just before half time.

The visitors found their footing in the second half and even had a penalty overturned in the 64th minute for a foul on Harry Maguire along with other missed chances.

Sam Allardyce’s side looked like they could set an upset with the clock ticking and eventually take all three points, but David De Gea pulled off a double save, and a missed chance from Diagne ensured things stayed even.

Though they claimed a point, West Brom is still second from bottom and 12 points from safety.

Up next, Manchester United are in Europa League action on Thursday against Real Sociedad, while

West Brom will travel to Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
