Actress Hilda Dokubo Contests for House of Reps Seat Under Labour Party 

Veteran actress, activist and youth advocate, Hilda Dokubo has declared interest in contesting for the Asalga/Akulga federal constituency in the House of Representatives under the Labour Party (LP).

The actress made her intention known in her campaign poster that has since gone viral.

The actress noted that she is ready to serve and also declared her support for Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi. 

“My dear people, I write to apply. Yours obediently,” her tweet,branded with the Labour Party logo, reads.

Her recent declaration got Netizens drumming support for her;

Dokubo founded and runs a non-governmental organisation the Centre for Creative Arts Education (CREATE) which deploys the creative arts to empower women and the youth.

In June 2020, the mother of one joined other protesters in a street march in Lagos against rape and other violent crimes against women.

In October 2020, she was part of the EndSARS protests in Port-Harcourt against police brutality.

Alongside Kate Henshaw in March 2020, Dokubo launched an online protest against the appointment of Senator Ishaku Elisha Dabo of Adamawa north senatorial district as a patron of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

She also participated in a street rally in Port Harcourt together by the youths in support of Obi’s candidacy.
