Aduda Leads PDP Senate to Wike’s Residence

Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda has paid a visit to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt.

Aduda had on Thursday led the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Senate to wike’s resident in a closed-door meeting. On the entourage are Deputy Minority Leader Shuaibu Lau, Minority Whip Chukwuka Utazi, and Deputy Minority Whip Danjuma La’ah.

The Governor and Senator Barry Mpigi received the guest. Aduda was nominated as Minority Leader two days ago to replace the former, Enyinaya Abaribe, who defected from the PDP.

The Senators visited a few minutes after the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe, equally visited Governor Wike.

The senators arrived at about 3:10 pm and departed at about 6 pm, but the purpose of their visit was not stated.

Meanwhile, the likes of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, Governors Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, had separately visited Wike in the past days.

Elder Godsday Orubebe, who served in the Goodluck Jonathan administration, had earlier resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party within the week.

Channels report that in his resignation letter addressed to the National Chairman of the Party, the former Minister said the present situation in the party does not inspire confidence that the party is ready to regain power in 2023 because the party disregarded its constitutional provisions and threw the zoning of the Presidency open, which created a situation that led to the emergence of a Northerner as the party’s presidential candidate, thus making the two topmost positions in the party, after the emergence of another northerner as the National Chairman.

It is worthy to note that since the choice of Okowa was made by the PDP as the party’s presidential running mate, concerns have been raised over the neglect of Wike. However, the Rivers governor has not commented on the issue, which has made some worried. The latest visits paid to him by top politicians are raising brows.

What is your opinion on the incessant rise to the visit of Governor Wike ahead of the 2023 general election?
