AFCON: Dominant Super Eagles finish the group stage with maximum points

Nigeria continued their first run at the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau 2-0 to become the only side to win all three group stage games to finish at the top of Group D with maximum points.

With eight changes to the side that beat Sudan to seal their last-16 place, Umar Sadiq, opened the scoring for the Super Eagles shortly after the break, beforeĀ Captain William Troost-Ekong, sealed the victory late on.

Meanwhile, Egypt grabbed a narrow 1-0 win overĀ  Sudan to finish second in Group D, three points behind Nigeria to qualify for the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mohamed Abdelmonem scored the game’s only goal, in the 35th minute.

Egypt will face the winners of Group E on Wednesday, 26 January.
