APC CECPC Calls for Membership Registration Extension

The State Chairmen Forum of the All Progressives Congress APC has called on the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) to extend the membership registration and revalidation exercise, which ended officially on Wednesday, March 31st nationwide.

The Forum noted this on Wednesday night while addressing newsmen shortly after the Forum’s meeting. Hon. Ali Buka Dalori pointed out that the massive turnout of old and new members for the membership registration and revalidation exercise calls for an extension.
The Forum, however, called for immediate conduct of Congresses and the convocation of the National Convention and completed all other tasks assigned to the Caretaker Committee by NEC within the stipulated time given during the last NEC meeting.
According to Dalori, “we have seen a tremendous turnout of Nigerians and the mass increase in the party strength in the last few months, and it is only proper that we allow the exercise to progress to the best of conclusion.

“Immediately after the commencement of the exercise, we all saw the need for an extension to accommodate the second stage of the exercise in view of the mass turnout of Nigerians to associate with the party that was not fully prepared for. Having reviewed the development and making arrangement for requisite materials to accommodate all into the fold of the party, hence the need for further extension has logically arise.”

Dalori further explained that some states were unable to meet up with the scheduled timetable and recently received registration materials to commence the second phase of the exercise due to delay in logistics and complexity of the registration process’s distribution process.

“We, the state Chairmen of APC therefore, by this medium, appeal to the leadership of the party and the CECPC to consider in the interest of the party and all intending members of the party across the country, to consider and effect a further extension of the exercise.
“We are therefore recommending an extension of all the exercise to enable us to bring into the fold all willing citizens in our various states.

“Thus, after the conduct and conclusion of membership registration/ revalidation exercise we urgently call for;
(a) the immediate conduct of Congresses and convening of the National Convention; and
(b) to allow for completion of all other tasks assigned to CECPC (by NEC) within the time frame.”
