APC Convention: Shinkafi Pulls from Chairmanship Race

A national chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sani Shinkafi, has withdrawn from the race a few hours before the party prepares to screen its Aspirants.

Shinkafi, a former national secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), stated this on Monday night at a press briefing in Gusau, Zamfara State.

He noted that he is pulling out from the race to abide by the party’s decision to zone its chairmanship position to the North Central and that since Zamfara did not fall within the region, there is no need to remain in the race.

“I was the national secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for many years. As such, I know the procedures and processes of a political party,” he told reporters. “I will abide by the party’s decision to zone its chairmanship position to the North Central exclusively.

“I know what is called party supremacy, I know what is called party leadership, and also know what is called respect for the stakeholders, and since the party has taken a decision, I have no objection than to follow their decision.”

“I personally align myself with the decision of the Chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Mai Mala Buni. I am with him, and I have accorded him all the support.”

Shinkafi appreciated his campaign coordinators for their support, adding that he has sacrificed his ambition to God, who decides what happens when he wishes.

Meanwhile, the ruling party’s leadership has slated Saturday, March 26, for its National Convention.
