APC fixes state congresses

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Saturday, October 2, is slated for the conduct of its state congresses across the country.

On Monday, this was communicated in a statement by the National Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Senator James Akpanudoedehe.

He added that it had slated Wednesday to begin selling forms for the exercise.
Recall that the ruling party had, on July 31, held its ward congresses in various states in the country.

However, the exercise failed in Bayelsa and the Imo States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Another essential exercise in building the party’s national elective convention is the local government area congress.

Following the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC), the APC leadership appointed the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, alongside others to pilot the party’s affairs.

Recall also that the Adams Oshiomhole’s led NWC was dissolved after a protracted leadership crisis which made the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party direct the caretaker committee to organise a convention to elect substantive national officers of the party.

Buni’s appointment as the caretaker committee chairman has raised concerns that he is an elective officeholder and should not take charge of the party’s leadership.
