APP Withdraws Lawsuit Against Tinibu’s Presidential Victory

The Action Peoples Party (APP) has requested to drop its lawsuit against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election as president in the 2023 general elections.

Obed Agu, the APP’s attorney, also requested that the court dismiss the lawsuit. He said he was working on the instructions of his client.

Meanwhile, Wole Olanipekun, Tinubu’s attorney, responded by stating that neither he nor his client are opposing the request to withdraw. He added that his client is not also requesting for any fees.

The suit was thereafter dismissed by the Chairman of the Panel, Justice Haruna Tsammani, with no cost attached.

The APP was part of the parties challenging Tinibu’s victory in the 2023 Presidential Election on the grounds of alleged non-compliance with the electoral laws as well as INEC guidelines.

On Monday, the Action Alliance, AA, had also withdrawn the petition it filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

The party through its team of lawyers led by Mr Oba Maduabuchi, SAN, applied to discontinue further proceedings in the matter. He told the court that the petitioners filed a withdrawal notice on May 3.

The five-member panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani dismissed the petition after receiving a no-objection response from all of the respondents in the case.
