Media personality and popular healthcare specialist, Chinonso Egemba better known as Aproko Doctor, has opened up about his current battle with a brain tumour.
The doctor took to his social media page to share a two-minute video of his dreadful experience and how he was “fighting for his life” in the past few weeks.
He said his health challenge left him blind in one eye and that although people pressured him to leave the country for his surgery, he stayed back.
Speaking in the video, he said, “One thing to understand is that health issues can happen to you regardless of who you are including me.
“For the past three weeks or two weeks, I have been fighting for my life. Some of you have no idea. It happened that I was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma which is a brain tumour and I had no idea I would be sharing my story.
“It was so bad that I couldn’t read out from my phone to the point where this eye, I couldn’t see with it, and it was also closing.
“It was Dr Tayo Ojo, a neurosurgeon here in Nigeria, that did the surgery. So many people begged me to leave the country and get the surgery done, but something kept me back here because I still had trust in us,” he tweeted.
Although a medical doctor popularly known for his comic medical tips, Aproko Doctor clarified that “health issues can happen to you no matter who they are, including him” and appreciated everyone who supported him.
Over the years, Egemba has used his videos to enlighten people via his social media platforms, about health-related matters and life changes that can improve and maintain one’s health.
Egemba got married to a fellow influencer, Chiamaka Nwakalor better known as Chef Amaka, in June of 2020.
