Atiku Meets PDP Governorship Aspirants

The Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, met with PDP aspirants for governorships at the weekend.

At his home in Asokoro, Abuja, the former Vice President met with the candidates alongside his running companion, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Governorship candidates from the states of Kaduna, Plateau, Katsina, Lagos, Niger, Kano, Sokoto, Delta, Yobe, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Kwara, Benue, Borno, Ebonyi, and Zamfara were present.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, lasted more than an hour.

Atiku and the governorship aspirants declined to give the press an interview once it was over.

Isah Ashiru, the chairman of the PDP Governorship Candidates Forum and a candidate for governor of Kaduna State in the PDP, claimed that the purpose of the gathering was to publicly congratulate Atiku and everyone there.

He claimed that they had in-depth family discussions on a variety of topics.

When asked if the present conflict between Atiku and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike was brought up, Ashiru replied that it wasn’t.

But in response to Wike’s demand that Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman, resign, Ashiru insisted that due process must be followed.
