Bayern bid farewell to Philippe Coutinho
Bundesliga Champions, Bayern Munich have formally announced that Brazil playmaker Philippe Coutinho is set to return to Barcelona after his year-long loan expired with the newly-crowned European champions
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had only praises for the attacking midfielder who he described as creative and excellent, thanking him for the role in played in the Bavarian’s triple-winning season.
All hopes of seeing the former Liverpool player who won three trophies, scored
11 goals, 2 of which were against his parent, Barcelona in the 8-2 champions league semi final trashing from Bayern, and created 9 assits in 38 games, came crashing down when Bayern had already paid 8.5 million euros ($10 million) to have Coutinho on loan made it clear that they would not be using the buy option of 120 million euros, a decision they attributed to difficult economic times.
The 28-year-old found his mojo in Germany after a frustrating period in Barcelona following his high-profile transfer from Liverpool in 2018.
However, Coutinho seems to have a future in Barcelona as new head coach Ronald Koeman reportedly called him to him he is part of his plans for the coming season.
Farewell wishes have been coming in from both his now former Bayern teammates and fans who have taken to the very likeable Brazilian.
With how bad his form dropped during his first spell at Barca, we are left to wonder if we will continue to see the little magician we saw at Bayern when he returns to Barcelona?
