Bayern Munich clinch ninth German Super Cup with win over Borussia Dortmund
Bayern Munich saw off fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund to win the German Super Cup for the ninth time.
A brace from Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, and one goal from German midfielder, Thomas Muller, was enough to help the Bavarians retain the title they won last year.
Marco Reus pulled a goal back Dortmund, but that wasn’t enough, as the game ended 3-1 in favour of the visitors.
The German Super Cup is contested between the champions of the Bundesliga, which Bayern won for a record-extending ninth time in a row last year, and last year’s DFB-Pokal winners, Dortmund.
With momentum like this, could Bayern Munich be on course for a record tenth Bundesliga title in a row? Let us know what you think in the comment section.
