BFFs Selena Gomez and kidney donor Francia Rasia end their friendship

Selena had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, lupus six years earlier, resulting in a damaged kidney.

Her friend of 10 years, Francia Rasia came to the rescue and donated her kidney to the singer, seemingly sealing their bond as close friends and ‘sisters’.

However five years after the selfless gesture, the former BFFs seem to have fallen out as Francia has unfollowed Selena Gomez on Instagram after Gomez said she didn’t have that many friends in the entertainment industry in an interview with Rolling Stone.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Gomez opened up about the struggle to find her voice within the industry and said she doesn’t have many famous friends.

“I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I

feeling like I didn’t belong,” she said, reflecting on living in the spotlight. “I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives. I had this position, and I was really happy, but…was I? Do these materialistic things make me happy?”

Selena’s comment was picked up and shared by E! News in the form of an Instagram cue card, which reached Francia’s feed. Francia also appears to have unfollowed Selena on the app after the comment.

Raisa reportedly commented, “Interesting” under the post, and then later deleted it.

However, Gomez seemingly responded to Raisa by commenting on a TikTok chronicling the alleged rift, writing, “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”

Francia Raisa (who is best known for her work in Grown-ish and How I Met Your Father) and Selena Gomez met circa 2007 during a visit to the Children’s Hospital organized by Disney and ABC Family. The pair have been close ever since, appearing on TikToks together as recently as July 2022.
