Controversial street singer, Habeeb Okikiola better known as Portable has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command upon the expiration of the 72-hour ultimatum issued to him.
Portable was earlier issued a 72-hour ultimatum to report to the nearest police station or get arrested, after he resisted getting arrested by the officials who stormed his restaurant. According to Portable, the policemen were hired by a yahoo boy to intimidate him.
In the latest development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed to The PUNCH that the controversial singer had been arrested and was cooling off his feet at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, following his alleged misconduct.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi while speaking to Linda Ikeji’s blog, said several invitations were sent to the controversial singer which he ignored, hence the initial arrest but the singer resisted it and created a scene at his bar.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the artist exhibited irrational behaviour and hurled insults at police officers carrying out their legal duty.
According to him, the action is criminal and punishable by the criminal laws of Nigeria.
It was also gathered that the singer will remain in police custody till Monday when he will be charged in court.
