Brighton come from behind to inflict defeat on Chelsea

Chelsea failed to hold on to a first-half 1-0 lead against Brighton, as they suffered their first loss at home since club legend, Frank Lampard, returned as manager.

Both teams were leveled at the break courtesy of Conor Gallagher’s deflected shot in the 13th minute and Danny Welbeck’s 42nd-minute equalizer.

After the break, teenage sensation, Julio Enciso struck home a screamer to give the visitors the lead and an eventual victory.

The result intensifies Chelsea’s struggling status this season and leaves them in 11th place, while Brighton remains in seventh position on the log.

Lampard’s men are due to play Real Madrid next week in the second leg of the Champions League Quarter Finals.Β
