Buhari Calls Youth to end the street protest

President Mohammadu Buhari has called on youths to discontinue from street protests and constructively engage the government in finding solutions as it is responding to their plea.
This was contained in the national broadcast by the president yesterday at 7.00 pm. The Presidency had earlier yesterday evening tweeted the statehouse press release of the live broadcast adjoining media houses to get connected.

In the 27 point speech, the president noted with dismay the genuine protest which was hijacked to disrupt the peaceful protest of youths against the excesses of the special anti-robbery square which has been disbanded.

The President however noted that though it is the fundamental human right to demonstrate peacefully, the rights of other citizens should be considered and demonstration must be done within the law.
According to the President, as a democratic government that has the people in mind, the scrapping of the SARS was in respect to the demands of the protesters which demands were met. “On approving the termination of SARS, I already made it clear It was in line with our commitment to the implementation of police reforms”.

The president in his speech also noted government roles in creating better lives for Nigerians, youth, women, and the vulnerable.
For many Nigerian youths, the speech has done little or nothing to their grievances as the president failed to note what has been pained in light of the harm that has been done.
