Burna boy Blasts Lady Who Called Him out for Using Africa’s Sufferings to Make Money

A lady identified as Dera recently came at Grammy Award winner, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, a.k.a Burna Boy, criticizing his kind of music and alleging that he takes advantage of the ill situation of the country to make his music sell.

Dera expressed displeasure on how many African artists use the citizens’ suffering for their gain, especially Burna Boy. The lady opined that Burna Boy’s song often portrays Africa as suffering and living in the jungle and nothing beautiful or positive about Africa.

According to the lady, Legendary singer Fela did not portray Africa like animals to pass his message about the oppressors.

She wrote;

“Bruhh I hate it when African Artistes especially a Nigerian artiste uses the ‘Africans Suffering’ script/story for their own gain.Information Guide Nigeria

Burna does that shit and he needs to stop ASAP! Stop mak]\[ng it look like we live in the Jungle, Stop Man!

This is what brings insults to our name & Pride fgs. Other African/Nigerian artistes go out there and talk about the numerous and wonderful talents that come out of Africa and how Africa is one of the most beautiful continents ever, but as an Ape that you are, you want to make us look like we live in the forest”.

The Burna Boy’s songs send the wrong message about Africa and it makes it seem as though people living in the continent live in the Jungle”.

Responding to the accusation, Burna Boy blasted the lady, saying that she and those who think like her deserve the worst in life and the afterlife.

Burna Boy said singing about Africa suffering takes more from his pocket and family as he does not gain anything.

Not stopping there, the self-proclaimed African Giant said he would have been more affluent and more comfortable if he was not singing about Africa, noting that he had rejected numerous millions of dollars from Africa politicians who attempted to change his style of singing.

Burna Boy added that nobody could make music about girls and money better than him, but he decided to speak the truth about Africa.

He wrote:

 “First of all ain’t no ‘WE’ you live in the UK and probably come to Africa for holidays. You and anybody that thinks like you deserve all the worst in life and the afterlife. You think I need to sing about the truth of African suffering to gain? Dumb bullshit takes more away from me, my pocket and my family to sing the truth like I have always done.

I would be way more comfortable and richer if I didn’t sing the truth about my society. I wasn’t the man I am or if I didn’t have so much interiority, I could have accepted the numerous millions of dollars I’ve need and continued to be offered by African politicians.

FYI nobody can make music about girls, money and bullshit better than me (I’ve proved this countless times) I just chose to speak my truth and the truth about Africa. So go and listen to one of the many great talents coming out of Africa and skip Burna Boy if you can’t handle it.

I’m from Africa! me and my extended family live in Africa and it’s always on our minds that the rest for the things I say and do get bigger and I get, risk, suffering and smiling”.
