Burna Boy’s Mom discloses that Gov.Wike never Paid Burna Boy the promised N10M
Talent manager and Burna Boy’s mum, Bose Ogulu, has revealed in an interview with TV host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu that her son did not receive any money at his homecoming, as promised.
Burna Boy was honoured by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike following his victory at the 63rd Grammy Awards. Burna Boy, who won the Best Global Music Album category with his Twice As Tall album was reportedly gifted a plot of land and a N10M cash prize to build on it. He amongst other artistes present at the show reportedly received this cash prize.
Well, Bose has disclosed that Burna never received the supposed cash reward. According to Burna’s mum, every artiste at the event actually got paid except him because the event was organised to honour him. She continued by stating that the only reason Burna showed up was that the state decided to honour him for achieving one of the greatest feats in his career and because he brought the award home.
On the question of the singer relating with the same people in government he has criticised, Ogulu disclosed that it made no sense for anyone to refuse honour in his father’s house. Bose further stated that the honorary gesture from the Rivers State government wasn’t with the aim of making Burnaboy take sides because he bagged his award from making the same music he uses to speak the truth and it should be clear to everyone that “Burnaboy will always make the music he wants to make”.
