#Chivido2024: Davido’s Epic Carnival Wedding, the Country’s Most Buzzed-About Event (See full highlights)

#Chivido2024 remains a hashtag that will linger for quite a while after Superstar singer, David Adeleke shut down Lagos and the country at large with his wedding turned carnival of dignitaries.

Afrobeats singer, Davido Adeleke and Chioma Rowland had their star-studded traditional wedding on June 25, 2024, in the renowned Eko Hotel of Lagos state. This is an event that has remained the most Buzzed-About topic.

The sensational couple stepped out in various stunning African traditional attires for their big day, from the Igbo Culture showcasing the beauty and fashion of Chioma’s Eastern heartland roots in Owerri, Imo State and the Yoruba Culture showcasing Davido’s royal heritage in Ede, Osun State

The event also attracted a lot of celebrities, dignitaries, and political figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Lagos state governor, Sanwo-Olu and the immediate-past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, and celebrities from across Nigeria. They included businessman and celebrity bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, a.k.a Cubana Chief Priest, E-Money, Jowi Zaza and Pretty Mike, among others.

Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who happened to have his birthday on the same day as the wedding, also extended his best wishes to Afrobeat superstar Davido and his wife, Chioma Rowland following their wedding.

 “Congratulations to Davido and Chioma on their beautiful union. The assurance of your love story is heartening, and I am happy to celebrate with you both on this joyous occasion. May your life together be abundant with blessings, love, and joy. I wish you a lifetime of togetherness, success, and serenity for your family. Congratulations #CHIVIDO24”, he said.

The event saw prints of dollar bills rain like water (as they avoided spraying the Naira notes, which is currently an offence in Nigeria), even digital currencies were accepted.

During the course of their wedding yesterday, the musician was informing his hundreds of guests about the currency he accepts. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the MC of the occasion informed the attendees that they accept pounds, euros, dollars.

Davido collected the microphone and added that he also accepts bitcoin transfers as wedding gift.

He added that he doesn’t want any promise of cash that will be sent the next day. According to him, his bitcoin wallet is open and they can simply do transfer to him.

“I’m accepting Bitcoin as a gift if you can’t spray naira and I no want OBO I go give you tomorrow, I no want that one,” he said.

A clip from the event also showed the music star Davido showered his wife Chioma with compliments for her exceptional cooking skills.

During the event, Chioma Rowland was asked if she was going to cook or not. After responding that she would cook, Davido attested to her cooking skills, asserting that she knows how to cook and “do.”

To crown it all, Nigerians we’re undoubtedly impressed as a video surfaced the internet of a cobbler, tailor, and first aid kit was made available at Davido’s wedding venue.

The aforementioned service tent was situated close to the entrance of the wedding venue for the comfort of the guests with the tag, “Event Emergency”. See here.

The wedding was indeed a lavish ceremony, captivating social media with its opulence and high-profile guest list, to the extent a Nigerian lady identified as Daniella asserted her intention to marry for money in light of Davido and Chioma’s extravagant wedding ceremony.

Reflecting on the lavish affair she witnessed, she declared her decision to marry for financial security rather than love.

“With what I’ve seen today, I’m sorry I’ll be marrying for money,” Daniella wrote.
