Chris Rock Declines to Press Charges against Will Smith over the Oscars Slap

Chris Rock has to the surprise of many, declined to press charges against Will Smith after being slapped in the face by Will Smith in the most jaw-dropping moment in the 94-year history of the Oscars on Sunday.

Apparently, the comedian will turn the other cheek after being slapped in the face on one of the greatest nights in the history of television.

The LAPD confirmed that Rock declined to file a police report about the slap, saying in a statement;

“LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another.

The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”

Smith could still face a misdemeanor charge for battery should Rock have a change of heart. 

This isn’t the first time Rock has made jokes about Pinkett Smith on stage. Chris Rock’s feud with Will Smith dates back to when the comedian hosted the Oscars in 2016.  

Chris got himself into trouble with the actor when he used Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith as joke material in his opening monologue.

In an opening bit about diversity, Chris poked fun at Jada for boycotting the Oscars when Will failed to receive a nomination for the movie Concussion
