Datti Baba-Ahmed Unveiled as Labour Party Vice Presidential Candidate

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has unveiled Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate.

LP stated this Friday, nothing that Baba-Ahmed has been chosen as its vice presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, following the withdrawal of Doyin Okupe.

The Independent National Electoral Commission was sued in 2007 by Baba-Ahmed, who was well known for speaking out against corruption. He had a reputation for opposing corruption.

He was the founder and Pro-Chancellor of Baze University, an independent university located in Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria, which opened in April 2011.

The Director-General, Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe, on Thursday, revealed that he had withdrawn as the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP.

Okupe stated this via his verified Twitter handle @doyinokupe, saying his party would announce the new running mate to the presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Okupe tweeted: “This afternoon, I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, to INEC(Independent National Electoral Commission).

“A replacement will be announced by the party’s national chairman shortly. I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success for the LP.”

Obi had earlier said that he preferred a younger and competent running mate.

He said: “We are talking to quite a number of people, and Hakeem Baba-Ahmed is a capable hand.

“But I wish I could work with somebody younger. I prefer younger people with a lot to offer rather than recycling old hands.

“I want a competent person, and I am building a formidable team.”
